How to Learn Faster for Interviews, New Roles, or New Concepts with ChatGPT
Applying more useful methods of ChatGPT to condense learning time from multiple hours into 60 minutes.
I recently listened to @myfirstmilpod w/ Martin Shkreli and learned about his new company DrGuptaAI. Just to get this out of the way, yes, he’s the “pharma bro”. That aside, fascinating story and perspective, highly worth the listen.
Ultimately the goal of the company is to provide medical advice to people who don’t have quick access to doctors and not get lost in a google rabbit hole emerging hours later thinking that you have a terminal illness. IFYKY. Long story short, it’s eliminating a large volume of people who need to see doctors to get answers to their questions.
This applies to you as a sales person because now you can take new concepts that you might not be familiar with and learn them at a rapid pace. Think about it this way, how many reps do you have to put in to better understand new technical concepts or how customer lingo correlates to a product you’re selling? Listening to all those gong calls, role playing with colleagues or your manager. It takes weeks, and countless meetings, to get up to speed.
With chatgpt I was able to get a grip around new lingo with an hour. When trying to wrap my head around this I was thinking about using flashcards or writing everything down to make sure I understood it. But with ChatGPT, I was able to dwindle down these concepts in an hour.
I don’t mean prompting “Explain this to me like a five year old.”
Here’s a couple examples of what I did, and how you can apply this to any stage of your sales career in order to wrap your head around concepts adn terminology quicker:
Think about interviewing for a company in a new space
Onboarding faster
Meeting new stakeholders that are working on something you’re not familiar with in the sales cycle
I took note of all the key concepts that I had to learn and started asking ChatGPT to explain everything to me. Everything that I didn’t truly understand, it would auto correct me. I then went down the path of asking
Here’s a breakdown on how I approached this:
I’m newer to market research so wanted to get baseline terms out of the way
I ended up asking ChatGPT how to provide me scenarios so I can learn in realtime how to synthesize the info
Then I pushed this towards running a discovery call
Quickly Understanding Baseline Terminology

From here, I was provided definitions for each term. But let’s take it further:
This way I don’t have to try to take the approach of memorization, but more so absorbing the information in a way that I would be using it in my day to day anyway.
*Note that I didn’t add the whole convo here, you can test for yourself. Long story short this is a long form scenario incorporating all the terms I wanted to learn and be tested on.
It even corrected me where I was wrong:
Running a Discovery Call
*It’s worth noting that you have to be careful on what info you’re uploading. I’m still trying to learn how to set up a local model, and I konw that there are some where you can train your own models, ie DanteAI. The quick catch is that these are all hosted as well, so word to the wise.
This is incredible, primarily because now I can ask discovery questions. It won’t get me up to speed on the product off the bat, but it gets me in the mindset of how to apply what I’ve learned into actual application.
This isn’t the holy grail by any stretch of the imagination - but when you think about onboarding or interviewing for a role, this gives you a lot more substance in terms of how to get reps in on what lingo to use. Besides actually practicing, this is as good as realtime as it gets, until speech to text catches up.
The conversation continues to go on as I ask it discovery questions. But this took me roughly an hour to play with and helped me absorb the facts much quicker than if I had to memorize or wait to hear things in action.
There is obviously going to be more when it comes to product specific aspects, which I can explore in another article.
